The Rhodes College chapter of the Society of Physics Students (SPS) is comprised of students who share an interest in physics and a love of sharing their enthusiasm for science with others. The is a professional association explicitly designed for students, and governed by a national council of physicists and physics students under the organization of the American Institute of Physics. SPS has an associated honor society, Sigma Pi Sigma, in which our chapter is proud to participate.

The Rhodes SPS chapter is well-known for its many on-campus and community events. Our annual favorites include such things as the Pumpkin Drop,Egg Drop, Physics Formal, Rites to Play, and many more. We also love doing outreach at local schools, which usually involves fun demos (like hovercrafts!).
Pizza, physics, and usually something that explodes. What more could you ask for? Meetings are held every other week in the physics lounge. This semester, we meet from 12:30 - 1:30 on Thursdays!
Joining SPS is easy. Just show up at the meetings and participate, and join . We also host a membership meeting at the beginning of each school year where you can sign up. Being part of SPS national gives you lots of cool opportunities, like going to physics conferences and applying for summer programs. The physics department will pay your membership fee!
